What is SG Eco Loop?
SG Eco Loop is a structured nationwide programme that turns sustainability from theory into action. In each 13-week cohort, students and their families are supported by industry experts to tackle real-world waste challenges, develop prototypes, and test solutions in actual community or industry settings.

In 2024, NEA recorded Singapore’s national recycling rate at its lowest level in a decade, highlighting urgent gaps in how waste is managed, reduced, and recovered across everyday systems.

No. While our pilot focused on ITE College Central, SG Eco Loop 2.0 is a nationwide quest that invites all tertiary students across Singapore.

We want to support your institution with student engagement by facilitating hands-on innovation by transforming utility spaces such as kitchens, labs, or campus sorting points into active testing hubs and ensuring students have the resources to advance their prototypes.

This is our top priority. Our programme is designed to spur active participation using evidence-based curriculum that has been tried and tested with thousands of tertiary students by aligning projects with professional outcomes, where student see immediate value in their participation.

The programme runs for 12-13 weeks per cohort. This includes 3 half-day capacity-building and prototyping workshops, followed by a prototyping phase to implement your POCs in community or industry with expert mentorship guidance, estimated at 4 hours per week.

Not at all! We provide the training, tools, and mentorship needed to build your solution, including workshops on design thinking and digital prototyping tools like AR/VR.

Top teams receive a prototyping budget and the opportunity to pilot their solution in a real-world community or industry setting. By showcasing your project to industry and community partners, you will gain a chance to work with industry through innovation projects and internship opportunities. You will also gain a lifetime membership to the Singapore Deep-Tech Alliance (SDTA) for ongoing career exposure.
